QUESTION:
The latest news feed from an Iranian Clergy says that earthquakes are caused by women dressing improperly.?
He says that improperly dressed women lead youngsters to adultery and earthquakes are a punishment for the act.
Please voice your opinion.
-
ANSWER:
What an illiterate he must be? Somehow they want women to be kept in their harem for their enjoyment only. women should not dress, women should not this, that etc. But men can do anything. He can wear ay revealing dress, he can even be a gay nothing matters since he is male. When this society is going to improve. Remember the world has 51% female compared to 49% males and yet males will decide what is good for females.
Sorry state of affairs. Women should raise their voice against this discrimination. If only Iranian women gather together and beat up that clergy real hard then no one else will have the courage to talk like his.

QUESTION:
Can feminism modify Islam(Sharia) in the West the same way it did Christianity?
There seems to be much panic over the influx of Muslim immigrants in Vin land countries. Given all the strides from the female standpoint in Christianity (e.g. women pastors and clergy, women free to dress as they please, sexual freedom) why can't we assume that the same thing would happen to Islam in Western countries over a lengthy span of time?
-
ANSWER:
Interesting question.
I suppose that modification of the behaviours and customs of Muslims in the West (or North), including attitudes toward womens' rights and freedoms reflect attitudes toward liberty. After all, it is the Christians that value liberty who are opposed to racism and sexism, no? The conservative Christians in the US are the most disposed to tolerating and sometimes actively supporting present-day inequites.

QUESTION:
Selling commercial things with tightly or little dressed women in tv advertisements is what? and why?
from women men tv directors too are born. should not they think not to exploit ladies. if some say using ladies in commercial is demand from viewers , this not simply right. raw and untammed human demands have no ends. educate people what to demand u will see their demands will change. also some ladies are responsible too. instead of spending life in beter ways they find east to sell themselves to advertisemennts. most sorrowful role is of clergy of all religions who do not raise their voice against this woman-humiliation. men and women attration is bestowed for high purpose of peace and growth not for selling stuff on media channels; strict laws are required as laws are strict on driving on highways!! save the humanity

QUESTION:
ISLAM:who forbids haram things since there is no clergy? Is the single believer responsible only in front of?
God?Or does a fellow muslim have any right to tell a guy who,for example, drinks alcohol or a woman who dresses "immodestly" to change their ways?
-
ANSWER:
It is simple: The Quran mentions not the eat port, drink alcohol, or to eat zabihah (meat that's slautered a certain way). So in the modern age we have food that is produced using short cut methods like cheese. These products may contain an ingrediant that doesn't openly say it contains one of the forbidden/disapproved parts. For example cheese is produced using animal enzymes to speed up it's culture time. An enzyme could be called rennet which is made of a pig enzyme or some just say enzyme without any other information which can be made of any animal (pig/cow/anything). So we have people out there who do this research and advise us on what we should/should not eat in this time period. The ingrediants are not always clear cut or more like barely is clear cut. The FDA does not require the ingredients to be clearly stated out there.
2nd question: The believer is responsible for doing the right thing always and following the word of God. Who are you fooling? God knows what's in your heart and all this is between you and God. No one else.
Last question: Muslims have to be respectful of other people's beliefs. That is if you see a non-muslim drinking alcohol you can't just go up to him and say haram. Muslims are supposed to be tolerant to others. If you are concerned for an individual then ofcourse you can talk to him. Remember to be respectful. Talk about the harm in those products and why you don't take them. Talk to them about Islam.
If you see a Muslim eating this then yes you should say something but again in a way that's not regrading others.

QUESTION:
On the issue of female Christian clergy...?
I have no objection to a woman being a pastor, in theory, but when I see a woman dressed as a priest or bishop (especially in the Episcopal Church USA), it really rubs me wrong...as though there is something deep inside me that is repulsed, not because I object intellectually but because there is something fundamentally wrong with a woman being a priest or bishop. My question is, on the basis of scripture and tradition: do you think I am wrong or are the liberal churches wrong?
-
ANSWER:
You are right on the button... And, based on Scripture and Tradition, your "repulsion" is just your spiritual discernment kicking in. I have no problem with women pastors....teachers....whatever..
But the Priesthood and the Episcopacy is different. There can be no women "Priests" or "Bishops"...there is no such thing. Nobody, not the Pope, not any group, can change that.
-
QUESTION:
Questions about the Episcopal Church?
1. Can women wear dress pants to church?
2. If you are a visitor are there any things you should know before hand?
3. How does the church service go about?
4. Do Episcopalians pray the rosary?
The Episcopal Church in my town is a small stone building so I'm not sure how many people attend...Should I call the clergy before hand and tell them I would like to visit?
-
ANSWER:
My wife is an Episcopalian, and I have accompanied her to services at a church near our summer home. While I'm certain that no one would correct you for wearing slacks, I'd go with a skirt or suit the first time to check out the norm for that congregation.
Don't worry about what to do. You get an order of service that tells you what songs to sing, when to respond with what words, when to stand, etc.
The church service is scripted (SEE ABOVE) relax.
Episcopalians pray the common book of prayer. It will be in your handout.
Just show up a little before the service. There will probably be greeting committee. You will be welcomed, and they will do their best to make you feel at home.

QUESTION:
Is it possible to belong to both the gnostic and coptic churches? are they the same?
Having doubts about my faith, I've done a little bit of research and first found out about Gnosticism, which appealed to me for various reasons, one of which being that they believed Jesus capable of laughter and compassionate relationships with women including kissing. This sounds like someone full of love to me. Then, reading "The Sign" by Raymond Khoury, I discovered the Coptic Orthodox Church, which apparently "out-orthodoxes the Eastern Orthodox Church" by being older (it was founded by St. Mark of New Testament fame) and, as I understand, closer to what Jesus was teaching. I wonder why there arent a bunch of people going to Coptic Churches in America. I don't pretend to fully understand how these things work, but I would rather attend a Church founded by one of the 12 desciples because it seems like it would be "authentic". And from what I understand, the Bible says something about how most of Jesus's so called followers would not be doing the right thing in the times preceding the end times. As I look around at conventional American Churches, I can't help but wonder if these are the kinds of churches warned about in the Bible. They are so much different than Churches from aproximately 2000 years ago that I cannot help but wonder if they may have "strayed from the path". These feelings increase when I see pastors and their wives wearing neatly tailored clothing, gold jewelry, and driving expensive cars. I just think of how much of God's work could have been done with that money... In fact, the last time I was in Church (it was my first time at this particular one) and they had a guy filling in for the normal pastor. After the service was over and people were up out of their seats, talking in seperate groups, some milling about or making their way outside to thier vehicles, so basically there was a bit of comotion so the fill in pastor didn't notice me approaching from behind to congratulate him on his sermon (It was a good one and I figured he was still somewhat new at this and a few congratulatory words could potentially go a long way). He was in a corner of the room, facing the corner, but I still had no idea that he was trying to hide something. So after I startled him by saying, "Hey you did pretty good today!", He slightly turned and muttered thanks. Only then did I notice that I had interruped him while he was trying to count a wad of money bigger than I've ever seen (at least as far as I can remember, but it was definitely bigger than any wad I've ever HELD or owned. And all I could see was 50's and 100's and 20's. Maybe the middle was a bunch of 1's. I don't know. But at first I was just really embarrassed. It wasn't until later that I started thinking, "Jeez is that how they do it? They don't even wait until the building is clear before they divy up the days loot? And why was he hiding in a corner?" And I started to realize how much money there is in being a religious leader. And I started wondering how exactly it works when you tithe to the church. How much is kept? How much goes to "doing the Lord's work"? I still have no answers. Do these pastors of larger churches just come from rich families? It seems too much of a coincidence that smaller churches have less impressively dressed clergy and larger churches (with more people giving money) have pastors that drive cadillacs and lexus'. So these luxeries must be being paid for by the congregation, right? Anyways, I discovered that the words Coptic and Gnostic are often used together. as in "The Gnostic scrolls were written in Coptic". Is Coptic also a language? I was attracted to the idea of the Coptic faith which (or was that the Gnostics...?) doesnt feel the need to pay a pastor to connect you to God and that anyone can have a relationship with God without having to go through someone else (the Catholic Church would go bankrupt under such ideologies and their magnificent buildings and ultra extravagance in the Vatican would be no longer without all that money pouring in from those who "need" a priest in order to have a relationship with God), and in fact, God, being omnipotent (is that the right word for EVERYWHERE?) can also be found, not surprisingly since He is everywhere, inside yourself. So, I would like to practice Christianity in a way which would honor God and Jesus. Perhaps things really are near the end times and "most of so called followers of Christ are doing the wrong thing". So maybe there are really only a small number of people "doing it the right way". Could it be the Coptics or Gnostics? Also, I've seen clues and heard rumors that have led me to believe that Satan had infiltrated the Vatican and even possibly the Papacy. I've never been a Catholic but all the same I'm interested in anything related to Christianity. There's supposedly proof that the current Pope has supported the recently uncovered policy of the Catholic Church to move pedophile priests to other locations rather than firing and helping to convict these crim
Sorry I forgot to mention that another reason my faith (in conventional American Christianity) is an increasing amount of judgementalism. I've heard that "Katrina happened because they practice voodoo and witchcraft in New Orleans" and I can just imagine them thinking or saying the same about haiti. And I heard the same thing about the 2004 tsunami. And I've heard Christians in my own family "judge" other members of my family. Isn't that a big no no for followers of Christ? Judging is God's job, no? And thanks ALIEN JESUS but my long question requires a longer answer. Perhaps you would care to elaborate? I wasn't looking for a simple yes or no. I have to know WHY. Whoever educates me the most will get the best answer. Ya I can do some research on my own with a few leads provided on your behalf, but at least a summary of your beliefs and reasoning behind it is what I'm looking for. Agreeing with me is no relevant. I'm open minded and my mind changes(adapts) constantly. Try me.
OK ok I KNOW I don't know much about it, that's why I'm here because I thought I could get some questions answered. I even said I am willing to do research with proper leads. In the 1st 4 answers I've received minimal help from people who seem intent only to inform me how wrong I am and repeating to me my statement that I don't know about certain things. One thing I do know is that Gnostics believed Jesus kissed his girlfriend and laughed sometimes. I can see how this would be an attempt to de-holy-ize Jesus by making him seem more human than devine, but anyway theres no point in my further speculating since i haven't learned a whole lot from the answers I've recieved. But if u type in "coptic gnostic" into yahoo search engine the first result is the Coptic-Gnostic library. So there is some kind of connection, however irrellevant it may be. Your right I don't know much about what I'm asking about (which, crazy as it sounds, is why I am asking about it) so if anybodys feeling HELPFUL...

QUESTION:
DS: Legislation pending in Iran to ban dogs as "impure and dangerous" - what's up with that?
Below is a reprint from the Toronto Star.
Question: Do you believe designating dogs and cats as "impure" is a violation of the UN Trade Agreement? Is this a violation of humanity's rights or is it perfectly within a countries right.
**************************************************************************
If you’re a poodle, get out of Iran.
Actually, if you fit the description of any four-legged tail wagger with a propensity for chasing Peugeots, you are not welcome in that country.
Lawmakers in the nation’s capital have proposed a bill that would make owning a dog illegal.
What do Iranian politicians have against pet pooches?
They’re un-Islamic, disease-ridden and short-legged.
“I would like to thank the honourable police and judges and all those who worked to arrest dog lovers and to confiscate short-legged dogs in this city,” cleric Gholamreza Hassani declared in the city of Urumiyeh.
“Happy are those who became martyrs and did not witness the playing with dogs! Now in our society, women wear hats and men hold dogs!” he added.
Following the advice of the clergy, who consider pet dogs best avoided, few Iranians traditionally kept the animals in their homes, but over the last 15 years there has been an influx of small-dog clutchers and puppy walkers in the country’s cities as the middle class mimics the Western culture seen in movies and on satellite TV.
“Global norms and values capture the heart of people all around the world, and Iran is no exception,” Omid Memarian, a prominent Iranian journalist told Time magazine. “This is very frightening for Iranian officials, who find themselves in a cultural war with the West and see what they’re offering as an ‘Islamic lifestyle’ failing measurably.”
And while lawmakers have largely held off punishing dog lovers for the last decade, the rising number of toy Russian terriers and well-fed dachshunds finally got to be too much.
The bill states dog ownership “poses a cultural problem, a blind imitation of the vulgar culture of the West.”
The proposed legislation outlines specific punishments for “the walking and keeping” of “impure and dangerous animals” for the first time, including confiscation of offending animal and fines of 0 to 0.
After the Islamic Revolution in the 1970s, the Iranian authorities periodically intervened to rid Iran of pet dog ownership, sometimes seizing animals in the street or publishing pamphlets that highlighted the perils of pooch harbouring through The Islamic Propaganda Office.
“Sometimes they go after satellite dishes, sometimes they go after the way women are dressed on the street, and sometimes they go after dogs,” Artin Zaman, a founder of the Iranian Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, told The New York Times in 2001. “It’s a way of keeping people distracted so they don’t think about bigger problems.”
Heavy fines and dog poaching by police aren’t the only perils in place for dog owners. A bustling black market in the pets (whose sale is illegal) can make walking your dog a dangerous venture, with pets being snatched away by men on scooters to be sold at downtown bazaars.
While targeting dogs, the legislation’s broad use of “impure and dangerous animals” could easily be interpreted to include cats, although feline lovers are being left off the pet-fraternizing hook — for now.

QUESTION:
why are cross-dressers offensive?
i'm talking about a straight guy who, for whatever reason, occasionally puts on women's clothes. i'm NOT talking a transexual, or a gay guy
....just a crossdresser
(and NO, i'm not talking about myself)
lots of these guys exist. you just dont see them very often.
i know one of these guys personally. he's married. and he's heterosexual. (Most crossdressers only do it in the house, according to the survey i read)
i asked him about it ..i asked him why he does it.... he said he didnt understand it all exactly...only that it made him feel good to occasionally put on a dress.
i asked him if he felt a "need to be humiliated". (most of these guys do it in SECRET by the way, so that that theory doesnt fit
he said it was more like like a relief valve from having to constantly be macho and masculine and responsible for all-things-male.
(is it a backlash against strict gender roles in some families?)
personally, i dont comprehend the urge to dress as a female... but neither does it offend me. i dont care in the slightest if a guy puts on a dress. i'm not even embarrassed to hang out with a guy wearing a dress.
(i'm too embarrassed to return bottles and cans...but hanging out with a big hairy guy wearing a dress is no big deal...go figure)
girls who wear pants and shirt or even a suit are NOT referred to as "crossdressers"
but guys are.
at least, in the west
arabs wear dresses
a lot of middle-eastern countries do
so do some african countries
so do some scotsmen
and the pope
and a lot of other clergy
didnt JESUS wear a dress?
so even though i dont "get it" ...i also dont see why its offensive?

QUESTION:
Can you Sum up this dramatic true life story?
Deana Brisbois was a creative, athletic and energetic 23-year-old woman from Topsfield, MA. She lived life to the fullest - at her happiest when at the hub of constant activity and commotion. Friends and family remember her as a beautiful young woman with the ability to makes friends in an instant with her engaging personality, ever-present sense of humor and heart of gold. In April of 1994, she lost her life in a car-crash near Brockton, MA. Deana had been in an abusive relationship for two years before her death. Her abuser was with her in the car when it crashed-but fled the scene-waiting over nine hours before he sought emergency treatment and claiming he fled the wreck in a panic. After Deana's death, her abuser was subsequently jailed for two years on unrelated assault and battery charges (32 charges from five Massachusetts counties).Though Deana's abuser was never charged with her death, her mother and stepfather, Mary Ellen and Ira Gorfinkle, and friends believe he played a role. A series of incidents-now a matter of public record-provide solid evidence of a pattern of abuse. Deana had taken out an emergency restraining order against him in 1993 after being hit. Peabody police charged the abuser with trying to run a car off the road in which Deana and another man were passengers. She sought emergency care after being thrown out of his moving car. Mary Ellen never witnessed the abuse, but was horrified when she saw the bruises he left on Deana's body-like the cruel bite mark left on her cheek, and the results of a "haircut" when he whacked off chunks of Deana's hair with a knife. When Deana finally admitted to the abuse, her family and friends urged her to get help. Deana talked with counselors, clergy, countless friends, doctors, lawyers, family members, and even other abused women. She left him several times, only to return when he apologized-certain that he would change. Before Deana's death, Mary, Ira, her twin brother David Brisbois, Pat Lucy, Christine (Crippen) Champeau, Laura Sindoni, and other friends thought dating violence was something that happened to other people.Faced with the hard truth-that relationship violence knows no boundaries- Deana's family and friends held a golf tournament in August 1994 to raise money in her memory. They founded Deana's Fund and donated the money raised to women's shelters. The golf tournament became an annual event, and in 1995 the organization supported the development of a play to PREVENT dating violence. The play was called The Yellow Dress.

Nothing expressed Chanel’s innovative mind better than her creation of the Little Black Dress. She revolutionized women’s clothing by this simple yet timeless fashion innovation. First introduced in 1926, the dress caused an instant uproar in the fashion world. Choosing black as a fashionable color was itself startling. Before Chanel, black clothing was associated with either the clergy or servants, or with mourning. But the simplicity and economy of this simple chic black dress appealed to women .Truly simple and sexy, Chanel's design was a sleeveless sheath cut just above the knee. The Little Black Dress has been called the foundation of any woman's wardrobe, and the one style item that makes every woman both look and feel great. It represented Chanel’s idea that, rather than buying a new outfit for every important occasion, women needed simple, elegant clothing that they could dress up or down as they wished. Vogue compared this to Ford’s Model T in terms of its impact on (fashion) world. (Gaines, 104) The versatility of the little black dress is the key to its popular success. The dress has been praised by fashion writers for the way it focuses on the face, looks great with a tan, can stand out or blend in, and both intrigue and seduce. On a purely functional level, it hides stains, and, best of all, slims the figure—enthusiasts swear it can appear to take off ten pounds.
OR
Chanel’s ‘Little black dress’ also pushed her fame forward with a huge step. This long-sleeved dress could be dressed up or down, and was suitable for all sorts of occasions. (Gaines, Coco Chanel, p62) For day, it was done in wool or chenille; and for evening, it was done in satin, crepe or velvet. Fashionable customers adored it, because it had given such elegant feelings to its wearers. It became a symbol of chic and lasted for almost seventy-five years. American Vogue represented Chanel’s Little Black Dress as the ‘Ford’ of fashion. (Wallach, Chanel, Her Style and Her Life, p83)

QUESTION:
What makes the French think that its "just" to ban the 'burqa'?
Sometime ago the French President Mr.Sarkozy suggested that France will implement a ban on burqa. Now even though as a non-Muslim I was offended to the core of my being! WHAT CHEAP-SHOTS TO GET BACK AT THE MUSLIM WORLD! I am an Indian Hindu. Hinduism and Islam may have their differences (at the home, where we end up quarreling like brothers, more so because of dirty politics than religious beliefs). But it is indeed a fact that the only other religion that has lived with Islam in a close proximity for a very LOOOOOOONG time is Hinduism! Here in India we avoid trying to pass anti-religious or anti-cultural remarks to each other (unlike the US where every offensive remark is labelled as "sense of humour") and all of us get along really well! It is not uncommon to see in India to see a group of friends from various religions hanging out together and having fun! I for one have had close friends that are/were Muslims, Christians (Protestant and Catholic), Sikhs, Buddhists and Jain! Religion is and its practices and the way each faith expresses itself is more of a personal thing here! After all that is what freedom of thought, belief and expression mean in a democracy! I am telling you, when we hang out religion is the last thing that comes to our mind! At the same time there is a sense of adventure in discovering the ways of other faiths and their customs! Its always good to be inclusive, open-mined and have some perspective!!
In this regard isn't it rather bias on France's behalf to suggest a ban on burqa? Isn't Sarkozy contradicting his own self in suggesting that this is for the sake of freedom and expression? Why is there this belief in France and the west as a whole that Muslim women wear burqa because they "Don't Know Any Better" because they are "ALIEN" to western "CIVILITY"? What the hell does it imply? Is the west trying to say that Muslim women are STUPID just because they wear burqa? What about the millions of empowered and intellectual women not just in Muslim countries but throughout the globe that wear 'burqa','hijab' and 'naqab' AT WILL? If you have to be bias then please don't cite things like FREEDOM and BLAH BLAH! JUST SAY WE ARE BIAS RACIST, ISLAMOPHOBIC , IGNORANT AND "WE" DON'T WANT YOU WEAR VEILS!
Also I would like to mention here that Islam doesn't say that wear a burqa or anything as such! Those things must have been there in the middle-east as a cultural trait long before The Prophet's (pbuh) Islam emerged and rectified many illogical and blasphemous things and evils prevailing in society during that time (1,500 years ago)! The Prophet, a man in his 30s then and a very handsome young man more like the youth leaders of today, clearly mentions that women must be treated with respect and not objectified (as was - in general - customary back then not just in the Middle-East but in Europe too!!) The Prophet asks women to dress modestly and realize their worth as opposed to the prevailing stereotypes of women in the masculinist society back then! But its human to not follow all what a faith teaches and try to flex it to suit man's own convenience! AND SO IT HAPPENED WITH ISLAM TOO! It is very much possible that Islam was used by corrupt clergies to justify the 'burqa'!
But all that happened a long time ago and now donning a burqa is merely looked upon as a religious expression not anything more! Times change. Meanings change. Interpretations change! ALSO IT DOES NOT GIVE ANY RIGHT TO THE WESTERN WORLD AND FRANCE IN THIS CASE TO "RECTIFY" THE BELIEFS OF A FAITH IN ORDER TO MAKE IT APPEAL TO THE SENSIBILITIES OF WESTERN "CIVILITY"! People can change their cultural beliefs when living as a citizen of a foreign country! But when you start attacking their faith and hurt their religious beliefs then that creates a HUGE problem and discontentment! (Note that you don't HAVE TO BE RELIGIOUS to defend your faith!) Ignorance is not a solution it creates a firm base for problems that will compound themselves with the passage of time! I MYSELF, EVEN AS A NON-MUSLIM KEEP MYSELF OPEN TO THEIR PERSPECTIVE!
So keeping all that in broad light I'd only like to ask this:
"WHAT THE HELL MAKES THE FRENCH FEEL THAT IT IS JUST TO PROPOSE A BAN ON BURQA?!"
-
ANSWER:
Ok I am from France but I couldn't read your whole thing because I don't speak that well english. But I agree with you and do not blame all of France. My mother is actually half saudi arabian and half brasilien, so I can relate to what it is that you say. My mother did not wear a burqa thouh but I understand because this is a part of my culture.

"You are forbidden from coming back to this church" (<<<>>>)
Three prospective church goers attend a meeting with the clergy of a local church and ask to become members. The three, an older couple, a middle age couple and a young newlywed couple are told that to become members it is required that they abstain from sex for two full weeks and then return.
Two weeks pass and all three return and the clergyman asks each couple if they have fulfilled the requirement laid out at the first meeting.
The elderly gentleman says that they have and are ready to join the church.
The middle age couple advise that the first week was okay but during the second week the husband had to sleep on the couch. Nonetheless, they made it and are ready to join the church.
The newlyweds hang their heads and the husband says, "Well, father, my wife was bending over taking something from the freezer the day after our meeting and I couldn't stop myself. I took her right on the spot."

This fellow comes to confession.
"Father, he said, "forgive me for I have sinned." The priest asked, "What did you do, my son?"
"I lusted," the fellow replied.
"Tell me about it," the priest said.
The fellow then related his story. "Father, I am a delivery man for UPS. Yesterday I was making a delivery in the affluent section of the city. When I rang the bell, the door opened and there stood the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. She had long blonde hair and eyes like emeralds. She was dressed in a sheer dressing gown that showed her perfect figure.
And, she asked if I would like to come in."
"And, what did you do, my son?" asked the priest.
"Father, I did not go in the house but I lusted. Oh, how I lusted," replied the man.
"Your sin has been forgiven," replied the priest. "You will get your reward in heaven, my son."
"A reward, father? What do you think my reward might be?" the fellow asked.
The priest replied, "I think a bale of hay would be appropriate, you dumb jackass."

QUESTION:
How should a Christian dress?
The issue of clothing, decent Christian, has a rich and canonical literary tradition. Many of the holy fathers and teachers, who have written about how to look like a devout Christian, believed this, it would seem, a private matter, a matter of having a value of the whole Church. 81 According to Rule 6 of the universal Christian church excommunicated, if put on some clothes not as a general custom.
Today it is a statement of principle, taken literally, can distort the idea of exactly what kind of clothes the Church considers a pious and acceptable. On the one hand, some adherents call modern Old Believers not only to worship, but also to work, shop, etc. walk dressed in ozyamy, homespun coats, caftans, sundresses, etc. But much more common in the other extreme, when a "general custom" made fashionable designs. Therefore, we must carefully careful reading of the biblical words of the prophet: "Uboitesya on behalf of God, Zane, near the Lord's day. Yako Lord has prepared his sacrifice, and consecrate narechennyya ours. And on the day of sacrifice of the Lord, and avenged before the Prince and to the house of the king, and to All obolchenyh in apparel alien "(Zephaniah, ch. 1).
What kind of clothes felt alien to the Orthodox Church Fathers? Saint Ephrem the Syrian (in word 82) teaches us not to dress in multicolored robe, and wearing modest clothes. Because we need only cover, but not heterogeneity. "Reason (smysl. - Authors.) DRC clothing veil be alone is one flesh" (Book of Nikon, abbot of the Black Mountains, word 37). Everyone should wear clothes befitting to him in rank and gender. Helmsman In the book, we find that Gangrsky Cathedral in 11 rule commands put out his wife if she donned male attire (even if it is done for the sake of abstinence), but does not preclude Christians to wear bright clothing. This should avoid the luxury not to tempt the faint-hearted brothers. Some for the sake of fashionable and luxurious clothes are high costs, and such exhorts St. Cyril of Alexandria, saying that, carried away by the colorful clothes, they are deprived of the divine attire. This also applies to those clergy (Book Nicon, abbot of the Black Mountains, the floor 37): If a bishop or deacon wears bright clothes, ornaments, we must correct him, if he does not listen - to bring the ban and eruption. Helmsman (l. 602 ob.) Contains the instruction to novopostavlennomu priest, which states: "Clothing wear long before glezna or from markings or utensils from the mundane", ie clothes to wear long, up to the ankles, without worldly medley and jewelry. Certainly prohibited wives dressed to open the shoulders, chest, etc. In the book of St. Demetrius, Metropolitan of the Serbian (Ch. 39), this custom has been validated as Latin, and therefore heretical.
Old Believers are always serious about the traditional dress, especially the cut of prayer clothes. The temples can still be seen of men in coats and boots, under the caftan them wearing a shirt worn outside, belted with woven or braided belt with ornaments, embroidered prayer or memorial inscription. Women, especially in the choir, dressed in sundresses, and shawls, stabbed under the chin, with a shawl color may vary depending on the holiday (eg Easter at will wear red, and the Trinity - green). Old Believers, who for one reason or another do not have such a dress, wear clothing honestly, in no event shall not expose or shoulders, or hands.
Custom slaughter handkerchief under her chin with a pin and distributed to all old-. However, in the south, particularly in the parishes nekrasovtsev, a handkerchief tied to a node that looks like a custom novoobryadcheskih congregation. Pondering this distinction, some staroobryadki interpret the custom to tie a handkerchief on the site, as a sign of Judah noose, a symbol hristootstupnichestva that has no basis in religious traditions, but is typical for national interpretation.
In nebrachnyh bespopovskih agreement on how wearing a headscarf, it is possible to distinguish virgins. They wear a handkerchief so that it lies on its back edge, and the rest of his wife wearing headscarf "in the corner.
Old Believers usually avoid wearing a tie.
Despite the abundance of traditions, written instructions on the clothes in a little Old Believers. Perhaps only in the Red statute focuses on the appearance of his wife not only in the temple, but on the home prayer. It argues that ungodly wife bower of the cross, if it at home wearing only a shirt (except for three cases: when she goes to bed, or rises from sleep or wash in the bath). Failure to observe this supposed to severe punishment. Overly strict relation to the appearance of a Christian, to his clothes, even created a division in bespopovskom Philippov's consent, when, due to advances in clothing (wearing a cap with a leather visors, fashion hats, high collars have blacked boots and coats) are separated from the other fellows filippovtsy Orel .

ANSWER:
DRESS MODESTLY WHEN YOU GO TO CHURCH
RIGHT FROM THE BIBLE
A woman must not wear men's clothing, nor a man wear women's clothing, for the LORD your God detests anyone who does this. (NIV, Deuteronomy 22:5)
Do not wear clothes of wool and linen woven together. (NIV, Deuteronomy 22:11)
Women's beuty should not Come from Adorments,..
Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight. For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God used to make themselves beautiful. (NIV, 1 Peter 3:2-5)
http://www.twopaths.com/faq_dress.htm
1) maintain the male-female distinction; (2) consider the effect our clothing has on our influence; (3) make sure our clothing does not "offend" anyone, and; (4) be sure our clothing is modest in God's sight. I believe these principles can be used for any article of clothing whether you are a man or woman or whether you are young or old.

QUESTION:
What denomination fits me best? I'm not sure anymore which is the closest to my beliefs?
I believe in God Almighty, I believe in the Holy Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Ghost)
I believe the bible is the inherent word of God, I believe that you can take it literally but not at face value, I believe you need to read through the symbolism to see what it’s really saying sometimes,
I believe that God created the heavens and the Earth and though I won’t say I’m sure on this one but evolution might or might not have been the means of creation,
I am strongly against abortion and pre-marital sex, I believe that homosexuals should remain pure and abstain from their shameful desires but as long as they are resisted I don’t think just having such passions is a sin in and of itself.
I believe that clergy should be allowed to marry, I believe in infant baptism
I believe that helping others just for the sake of helping brings us closer to God,
I believe that women should be able to be missionaries and Sunday-school teachers and liturgists but I could go either way as far as the priesthood
I believe that divorce is a grave thing that should never be done without trying to fix things
I believe women and men she both dress modestly in their everyday lives ut especially for worship
What denomination does his sound like to you?
-
ANSWER:
Actually, aside from the priests being able to marry and the women being able to be priests, your beliefs sound remarkably Catholic. You might want to investigate the Catholic Church. It is the historical religion and Church that Jesus Christ established. There are no records of any other denomination of Christianity before Catholicism. Please email me to talk more about this. If the priests being married thing is a big deal to you, the Eastern Orthodox Church is good. But why not join Christ's original Church? Your life will be changed as you receive the grace of the Sacraments that Jesus Christ established.

QUESTION:
I'd Like to Know About Muslim Men/Culture.?
I had an experience on the bus several months ago. The only empty seat was beside an Arabic man, who was wearing a black turbin and robe. His friends were sitting across the aisle, and they were giving me strange, almost shocked looks. Was that man a Mullah or clergy person? I suppose in his culture women wouldn't sit beside him, but in Canada you are only entitled to the one seat you paid for on the bus. I'm curious about this incident, because I've sat beside a lot of Muslim and also Seik men in traditional dress and there has never been a problem before, because they understand Canada has different social rules. Does anyone know the reason for the odd reaction I got from those men?

QUESTION:
What is the name of the song and artist for this metal music video?
I need help finding the name and artist of a song from a metal/rock music video that I saw on Indy's Music Channel. The description is as follows.
Okay it's kind of dreary and there's this guy carrying a rectangular concrete block, attached to his neck by a chain in front of a group of people dressed in American pioneer clothing. The group has a woman, some men and a clergy, who looks solem as they enter a forest. A strange hag is seen in the distance among the leaves and they reach a swamp. The liturgy begins praying or reading scripture (inaudible except for music). The man slowly walks into the deepest part of the swamp. The video ends as the man drops the concrete block and apparently drowns.
Thanks for any help you give me.

QUESTION:
Why is Saudi Arabia the role model of Islam? Who declared it so?
I don't consider Saudi Arabia the 'heart' of Islam as a lot of people proclaim it to be, Saudi or not, Muslim or otherwise.
When Muslims pray they face the Ka'aba in Makkah, not Saudi Arabia per se, just because they happen to govern over Makkah doesn't suddenly make them the official voice of reason and right & wrong in Islam.
The same way when the Ottomans Turks ruled over Makkah, they were not the centre of Islam and they did not define Islamic theology.
Nor were the Mongolians before them under Ghenghis Khan.
The Saudis to me don't represent the majority of Muslim interests around the world and are far too aggressively trying to promote their Wahabbism ideology upon every Muslim country, which is not right.
Wahabbism is not so much an interpretation of the Quran as it is the tribal, Bedouin lifestyle which the Saudi Royal family have embraced.
Little to nothing of it has to do with Islam. It's more social norms and cultural traditions of the Gulf Arab nomads than religious tradition.
Other Muslims shouldn't be forced to accept their way of life as right for them (particularly as Arabs only make up 20% of Muslims worldwide), Wahhabism makes up a FRACTION of Mabhabs around the world, what about everyone else's interpretations and traditions?
A minority in my opinion should not speak for and represent a larger majority.
Especially as one as corrupt as the Saudi Royal Family who are simply hypocritical munafiqs who will do and say anything to stay in power. They preach rejecting foreign (non-Islamic) influences and avoiding the corruption/vice but then they go and allow America to build 50 oil refineries in SA, numerous military installations (despite the fact the bearing of arms is banned on the "Holy Soil") and invite tens of 1000's of foreign workers over, starving real Saudis of jobs while the Royal Family buys themselves million dollar yachts and gold-plated sports cars with all their oil revenue.
The Saudi Clergy & Ulema consider Shiites to be a form of heresy worse than being a Christian/Jew and King Abdullah has stated he will never allow Shia Islam equal rights to those of Sunnis in S.A.
Shi'ite pilgrims to Makkah are beaten and discriminated against by the Religious Police (Mutaween):
http://www.middle-east-online.com/english/?id=21680
No where in the Quran/Hadiths are stonings prescribed for crimes, nor are women supposed to be veiled up to their eyes (i.e. Niqab, Abaya are just traditional Gulf Arab dress), or that the Jew or Christian is the enemy of Islam, yet the Saudis have taken the most unIslamic of practices and are now championing them to the world as "Islam".
Saudi Arabia is one of the worst Human Rights violators on the planet. They outlawed slavery only in 1962 (when their population of slaves was still at around 20,000), they forbid women to drive cars (honestly what Islamic merit does this have?) and they do even consider or recongize any other religion to be present or legitimate in Saudi Arabia; the many Christians and Hindus residing there (often as foreign workers) are considered to be worth 1/16th of the value of a Muslim according to Saudi law.
I feel they do not have Muslim's best interests at heart, nor is their intent good & pure.
They spend billions of dollars a year (Saudi Arabia is the world's largest funder of construction of Madrassas and Mosques in the Muslim World) trying to spread Wahabbism across the world, publishing all sorts of Wahhabist literature and making sure Wahabbism has a presence in every Muslim country.
And feel they are the final word of reason in any argument over interpretation simply because they control Makkah.
To me they should not be perceived as the centre, heart, soul or whatever of Islam nor should their way of life be considered "official" by any standard.
If they truly believe Wahabbism is what Allah intended, then they are free to follow it, so long as they don't go shoving it in everyone's face.
@ Farzan Saeed:
Muhammed was not a "Saudi", never referred to himself as one and the state of Saudi Arabia as founded by Ibn Saud and his descendants did not exist.
You fail to understand history.
Muhammed came from the Banu Hashim (Hashemites) clan of pre-Islamic Arabs who were pagans to a large degree before the advent of Islam.

QUESTION:
I found a naked woman at my boyfriend's, what should I do?
I have a steady boyfriend Daniel, we work together, he is my boss actually. We are in publishing. My mother passed us an invitation to Una and Geoffrey's Tarts and Vicars party in the garden (it's when you dress either like a sex worker or clergy). Daniel agreed that we would both come, but last minute told me he had to work and was busy. He helped me to dress though, in a bunny costume which we made ourselves, with a tail. When I arrived, everyone was a Country Casuals, because there were a lot of clerical scandals recently, but they forgot to warn me. I looked really foolish and went away early, and directly to Daniel's. He was queer and didn't want to let me in, telling he was on the phone to America, and that he'd meet me in the pub. The pub was closed, so I came back and demanded to come in. It
was very difficult to check his place for a hidden woman, without allowing her to escape through the door, but I managed to check behind the sofa and curtains in the sitting room, and the cupboard, then the kitchen cupboard, the loo, his bedroom, and when I started thinking that I was being paranoid, I saw a terrace door, and went out to the roof (Daniel tried to stop me). And there, spread out on a sunlounger, was a bronzed, long-limbed, blonde-haired stark-naked woman! I just walked out, but I have to go to work on Monday, and I have to work with Daniel! What should I do?

QUESTION:
Priests on Vacation?
Two priests decided to go to Hawaii on vacation. They were determined to make this a real vacation by not wearing anything that would identify them as clergy. As soon as the plane landed they headed for a store and bought some really outrageous shorts, shirts, sandals, sunglasses, etc.
The next morning they went to the beach dressed in their "tourist" garb. They were sitting on beach chairs, enjoying a drink, the sunshine and the scenery when a drop-dead gorgeous topless blonde in a thong bikini came walking straight toward them. They couldn't help but stare.
As the blonde passed them she smiled and said "Good Morning, Father. Good Morning, Father," nodding and addressing each of them individually as she passed on by.
They were both stunned. How in the world did a woman in a place they had never been know they were priests?
So the next day, they went back to the store and bought even more outrageous outfits. These were so loud you could hear them before you even saw them! Once again, in their new attire, settled on the beach in their chairs to enjoy the sunshine, the same gorgeous topless blonde, wearing a very revealing string bottom, took her sweet time walking toward them. And again, they couldn't help but stare.
Again she nodded at each of them, saying "Good morning, Father. Good morning, Father," as she passed by.
One of the priests couldn't stand it any longer and called after her, "Just a minute young lady!"
"Yes, Father?" she said as she stopped and turned back.
"We are priests and are proud of it, but I have to know: how in the world did you know we are priests, dressed as we are?"
The woman smiled, bent over a bit, and pulled off her sunglasses.
"Father," she said in a purr, "don't you recognize me? It's me -- Sister Katherine!"

ANSWER:
It's isn't "biased" because they ban ALL religious symbols and expressions in public, not just the burqa, it's crosses and stars of David, too. It's called "laïcité" which is rigorous secularism and can be described as anti-religious, but it's legal.
